This last also stands at the end of the Indra group and glorifies Atri as the saviour of the Sun and through him also of the family of the Atris. [...] In the following paragraphs I propose to discuss briefly the contents of these Family-hymns of which the Vi6vdmitras and the Vasisthas claim two each while the Vdmadevas the Atris and the Bhardvdjas have only one each to their credit. [...] It records the wonderful exploit of the Great Atri namely the rescue of the Sun from the demon Svarbhänu. [...] From the mention of the udavrctja which evidently means an island station of the cows " like the one used by the Panis in the middle of the stream of the river Rasa (cf. [...] The Vedic tradition also confirms this view by ascribing the composition of the hymn to Garga and not to Payu who is mentioned in the Dinastuti and who was very likely the author of that DEnastuti and the war-charm.
