[...] He also quotes Ainslie as stating that the plait was introduced to the soutern parts of the Indian peninsula from the Ise of France and Fliickiger and Hanbury " who point ort that it has been wrongly supposed-that " the drug is a constituent of the famous bitter tincture called by the " Portuguese of India Droga Amara." The same author quoting from the Pharmacographia gives the chemicai c [...] The worms are found fe cling on the trees of the Artocapples lacooehrt but are difficult to observe as they form a safe retreat for themselves by joining the leaves together and feed only on the surface of the leaf leaving the veins intact Since the receipt of the circular none of these moths have as yet been found in the garden. [...] Morris of Kew referring to the despatch of some Caryocar seeds :--" We hope the seeds of the Butter-nut' have reached " you in good order it will be some time before they will germinate but " the tree is a very desirable one to introduce to the East." A copy of a despatch from the Secretary of State for India to H. E. The Viceroy advising the despatch of the seeds was also read.
