If the Empire movement in England can instil into the minds of the British people the necessty for the display of such virtues in all their relations its work will prove to have been one of the most potent forces of this age in setting a standard of Government the attainment of which is essential to the rapid progress of humanity towards the goal of universal peace. [...] In the “poor” schools 6.3 of the children are “very pale ” in the “good” only o 8 ; in the “poor” schools 32.3 are pale “in the “good” only 14 9 ; the percentage of normal scholars is 84.3 in the “good“ school ; it i6 6v4 in the “bad.” The utter futility of present methods of treating diseased children is emphasised. [...] Here in India alas ! this question of the supervision of the mother over the young children receives a severe check from the fact that that supervision exists only for the first few years of the child’s life and even then is limited to the loving care for the physcal comfort of the child.
