There is a steady increase in circulation the financial condition is on the whole satisfactory and it has been found possible to defray the cost of 20 000 leaflets out of the process of the subscriptions after meeting the expenses of printing and postage which are of course heavy in the case of Sons of India with a monthly output of 2 000 copies. [...] Readings from various scriptures a short address on the work of the Order with special reference to our Chief’s life work a report of the activities of the Lodge during the past year and a talk on the work before the Lodge would be useful items of the programme. [...] The question itself—the development of the hanloom industry —is very important and we in Madura where there is a lodge of the ‘Sons of India’ Order and who are interested in the elevation of the much depressed and at the same-time much traduced classes of people are doing something in the way of popularising the use of fly-shuttle looms with such of the latest appliances as have been found [...] We do not mean to be speculative or to run the business on purely commercial lines with an eye to profit or to make a living and the names on the Board of Directors will be a sufficient guarantee that love of money has not been the motive in the starting of the factory we desire to be corn.140 SONS OF INDIA SEPT. [...] a knowledge of the broad events of the history of the Motherland and such other subjects together with clear understanding of hygiene and first aid should form the course of study while thorough understanding and practice of universal principles of morality and of the religion in which they are born should never be neglected on any account.
