Jehangir's mother was a Rajputni Princess of the house of Marwar and he had himself married a sister of Man Singh the Jeipore Rajah ; the was the mother of the unfortunate Khusru ; Whilst the latter also was married to a Rajputni of whose affection_ and fidelity in adherence to him and sharing his imprisonment„ Roe gives an interesting account. [...] and position we quote his own account of Q110 amongst the scenes that occurred in the early part of his mission which affords a sample of the state of affairs at the Durbar and shows how much he had to contend with ; his ignorance of the language and the want. [...] Sir Thomas's account of the scenes in which he nrtieipated at the Durbar is.amusing veluab/b as the evide pee of an honest and intelligent witness relative to the habits forms and criptoms of the Court and Camp at that period when the Mogul Erdpire was nearly at the zenith of its prosperity and spfendour. [...] He dwells continually on the same exhibitions of displayand mea4ness childishness and itrigue cruelty and weakness rigid fomilities and gross ignorance which constitute the record of more recent travellers who have visited the Durbars of the descendants of Jehangir or of the indpendent successors of his powerful Viceroys.
