But though the creation of new Universities has diminished the extent of our territorial jurisdiction the intensity and complexity of the educational problems confronting the University of Calcutta have increased with the march of time. [...] Srishchandra Chaudhuri one of our oldest Honorary Fellows who was for many years actively ipsociated with the work of the University as a member of the Senate and as a member of the Faculty'rif Law and of the Faculty of Arts. [...] The matter is under consideration of the Government of Bengal and we trust that with the powerful assistance of Your Excellency as the Chancellor of this Univesity we shall be able to persuade you as the Governor of the Province and also the Hon'ble Minister for Education to stabilise the finances of this University.
