in the first half of the seventh century the contest between the Arabs and the Chinese for supremacy in Central Asia (comprising the Northern part of the Uttarapatha division of India) which ended in the ultimate victory of the former and to the conversion of most Central Asian tribes to Islam in the eighth century the Arab conquest of Kabul about 870 A.
