As a result of them it was found that the sensitizing action of adrenalin and of epinephrin was dependent upon a number of factors of which the chief are :- -(I) Temperature conditions ; (2) the hydrogen-ion concentration Of the medium ; (3) the composition of the medium; amid (4) the quantity of adrenalin hy(' 1chloride or of epinephrin present in the medium. [...] The action of adrenalin hydrochloride and of epinephrin in enhancing the sensitivity of the enueleated toad's eye to the stimulus of light is influenced uenced by the composition of the medium in which the eye is preserved. [...] The curve of maximum dilatation and the ranges of action of the irides of control eyes subjected to the influence of the same dose of adrenalin but without the addition of increasing amounts of Nj 10 }ICL are shown in interrupted lines. [...] As the pH of the medium falls from alkalinity towards neutrality the curve of maximum dilatation of the pupils gradually heightens;: and the range of actioof the irides increases. [...] (5) That the pH of the medium under the influence of the metabolic activities of the eye tends always to approach neutrality (d) Affect of increasing the fl-ion concentration on the action of epinephrin in Ringer's solution the amount of epinephrin being constant.
