The influence of this factor will at once be appreciated from a comparison between Map 3 showing the mean annual rainfall throughout the Indian EMpire with the maps showing the distribution of the various species of Anophelines. [...] The effect of altitude is shewn. in the distribution of the Alpine species A. lindesaii and A. gigos as will be anpreciated from a comparison of their distribution maps with Map 2 which slims the mountains of India from 3 000 feet upwards. [...] Map 1 is a key-map showing the political divisions of India and the sudivisions in which the records are grouped in the text. [...] In the case of species of which varieties are also found-in India if the specimen is known to be the type form or the variety this is noted in brackets. [...] In India it occurs in Baluchistan Waziristan the North-west Frontier Province the Punjab and Sind and in some of the western districts of the United Provinces.
