The Bengal Bihar & Orissa Co-operative Journal July 1923

1923

The following are extracts from the Leaflet on the Progress of the Co-operative movement in the Madras Presidency pulished by the Co-operative Department :- Great as are the results already achieved the scope for further work is enormous. [...] It was of opinion that until such demand fifinancial aid was sufficient to justify the establishment of special banks the ordinary local central and Provincial Banks should be encouraged to finance such societies.6 The Madras Bulletin of Co-operation gives an interesting account of the increase in the establishment of the Co-operative Department both on the official and the non-official side. [...] The object of the society should be to extend the in:trekting period and area and to control the movement of.the produce in regard to the point of consumption. [...] Those who do not ask for advances receive at the end of the financial year the value of their wheat calculated on the mean price of the year and are also entitled to a bonus at a pro rata of the quantity of the wheat delivered and further receive 4 per cent. [...] Secretary of the Society to read out the Annual Report and the audited statement of the accounts of the Society which were unanimously adopted.
