Do members of the Church of Scotland recognise how close is the connection between these movements of the present day and the activities of the first missionary of the Church ? In the name of Christ Duff deliberately set himself to bring about a new awakening of the mind and spirit of a people different in race and in tradition from his own. [...] In the crowd at the meeting on the 12th which \ as held in the open air on the College lawn the largest and to the discerning observer the most significant group were the past and present students of the College. [...] This is the lesson which the Duff Centenary has made more clear to all who took part in"186 COSMIC JUSTICE it that the inspiration and the power are the same for men of good-will throughout the world and the vision is the same the vision of that City of which Alexander Duff was one of God's builders. [...] In 1813 at the time of the renewal of the charter of the Company a sum of £10 000 was set apart for the revival and promotion of literature and the encouragement of the learned people of India and for the introduction and promotion of a knowledge of Science among the inhabitants of British India". [...] I am most thankful to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland who have sent their affetionate greetings to the staff and the students on the occasion of the centenary Celebration to His Excellency Lord Irwin the Viceroy and Governor-General of India who has assured us that the influence of the Scottish Church College in the education of the youth of Bengal will long continue and increas
