ANIRUDH PANDEY Class IX-A." JAPAN THE Empire of Japan is situated in the North Pacific to the east of the continent of Asia between the parallels of 22° and 51° N. and geographically consists of five great islands (with adjacent islands) namely Honshiu the mainland ; Kiushu the south-western ; Shikoku the southern and Hokkaido (Yezo) the most northerly and least devloped and Taiwan ( [...] The climate of the country is genrally mild and healthy though the different parts are subject to varied teperatures according to the influences of situation the formation of land the position of mountains and the ocean currents. [...] The whole group of the islands being within the circuit of the south-east monsoon is very warm in summer because of sultry winds while in winter the north or north-west winds the cold current from the Arctic Ocean through the Behring strait and along the coasts of Chishima and eastern. [...] But on the other hand the warm currents flowing from the equtorial region one branch of which runs along the Pacific coasts of the Empire and the other half of which enters the Japan Sea through the strait of Korea mitigate the cold blasts from the north and change the climate of the soutwestern provinces as well as in a smaller degree of the whole country. [...] This process is as injurious to the body as the quenching of thirst by drinking the muddy and poisonous water of a cesspool." "The physical culturist on the other hand by a regular and scientific system of exercise develops all the tissues of his body with the help of the blood enriched by a sufficient quantity of oxygen and thereby removes all the poisonous elements from his blood.
