May he succeed in rivalling the glories of Vikraaditya of old Since the last appearance of our Magazine one very important event in the cultural world has been the gathering of a Parliament of Religions here in Calcutta as the grand finale to the celebration of the centenary of the birth of Sri Ratnakrishna Paramahansa. [...] In the year 1890 he entered the Corporation of Calcutta as one of the elected representatives of the rate-payers and also became a member of the Committee of the Imperial Library of Calcutta. [...] He went to England for the second time in 1921 as a Member of the Commission of Enquiry into the affairs of the Indian Students in England which was presided over by Lord Lytton and also as a representative of both Calcutta and Benares Universities in the Congress of the Universities of the British Empire. [...] (c) Politics the concern of the individual should be left out of the activities of the P. E. N. (d) It is; the duty of members of the P. E. N. to use their influence in favour of good understanding and mutual respect between the nations particularly in time of war.
