S. (Retd.) an 'old boy' of the College welcomed the guests and narrated his reminicences of Vidyasagar and the past days of the College and opened the exhibition in the uavoidable absence of the Vice-Chancellor. [...] Apart from the general principle of federation if we take into consideration the powers and functions of the Governor-General the executive head of the Federation the postion of the Secretary of State and character of the Federal Legislature there will be Ito one who will not understand the real implications ot the imperialist designs in the federal scheme. [...] In the accesion of the states to the federation the opinion of the people of the states need count for nothing ; option lies absolutely with the princes. [...] The Secretary of State continues to be the medium and vehicle for the enforcement of the 'responsibility' of the British Parlaiment for the 'welfare' of India. [...] The only direct descendant of the Goddess is the Mikado and hence the Mikado is the head of the family and as such the rest of the family owe him abject and absolute obedience.
