Since the supply of currency is in the hands of the government or of a governmencontrolled Central Bank Inflation can only take place through definite acts of interference on the part of these authorities with the normal supply of currency. [...] The discovery of Uranium was the stepping stone to the discovery of Radium and the phenomenon of Radio-activity. [...] But the advent of it must also herald the suspension of all terror and uncertainty in the minds of the general people of the earth. [...] If we establish the league of nations on the basis of only co-operation in case of aggression on any member of it we shall not be able to solve this problem of competitive arming which is the cause of over-taxation in every state and country of the world. [...] The multi-coloured lights of the shops reflected grotesque shapes on the wet surface of the road while the shadow of the street-lamps gave out a misty gleam.
