" With the establishment of tranquillity over the greater part of India by the middle of the fourth century A. D. under the vigorous rule of the Gupta Emperors the peaceful occupations of trade and commerce must have received an impetus as is fully confirmed by the testimony of the Chinese annals of the period. [...] Since the year 190'3 the Government of Bombay have recognised the School of Mechanical Technology of the Kala-bhavan and its students have scince that year enjoyed equality of treatment as regards appearing at the Engineer's Certificate (Governmeht) Examinations with those of the Mechanical Engineering classes of the Poona College of Science and the Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute of Bombay [...] The students of the School of Commecial Technology at the Kala-bhavan besides appearing in the examintions held by the Kala-bhavan itself also go in fsuch examinations as the Senior Commercial Examination of the London Chamber of Commerce the Pitman's Second Class Shorthand Examination and the Intermediate Commercial Examination of the London National Union of Teachers these examinat [...] The Attitude of Contending Parties The Christian Position (continued) (A) We have sought in our previous article on the subject to impress on the minds of the reader the point of view adopted at the present day by the contending religious parties in India—Christian Mahomedan and Hindu in their treatment of religious questions in their relation to the community at large.
