Gubbay has noted in his paper the Chetty community of Madras has set the example of banking organization and method to the indigenous bankers of India and they have proved how the applcation of the principle of joint responsibility in the case of such bankers leads to safety of operations and to an increased capacity in the way of obtaining the assistance of the large banks in the shape of redi [...] Is this not the same as the glorification of the fiddler or tramp in the modern Irish drama and the deification of the noble savage and the natural man by the disciples of Rousseau ?
