Delivered on 7th June '934 IN the historical sketch of the Royal Institute of British Architects as given in the Institute Calendar it is stated that the first meeting of the founders of the Institute was held on the 2nd July 1834 so that our parent body will be celebraing its Centenary during the current session. [...] I think the Comittee is in the near future going to play a prominent part not only in the uplift of the status of salaried architects but will also provide a means for practising Architects to secure the services of the right type of Assistants."46 JOURNAL OF THE INDIAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS July 1934 The R. I. B. A. Examination Board in India is a great blessing to those of our Members wh [...] Amongst the big architectural works under construction may be mentioned the extension to the Prince of Wales Museum by the same Architects the big works on the land on which stood the " Watson Annexe Building" near Apollo Bunder for the design of which Messrs. [...] With the co-operation of the Committees and individual Members the Council looks forward with confidence to a continued prosperity in the affairs of the Institute. [...] The Council submitted a suggestion to the Goverment of Bombay to allow it to nominate a representative on the Board of Examiners for conducting the Diploma and Advanced Examinations in Architecture and the Council is glad to inform the General Body that the. suggestion has been accepted and in future one member will be nominated by this Institute.
