Catholic Action. The Journal of the Catholic Student’s Union Bombay. April 1935

1935

The Resurrection of Christ is the cornestone of our Faith ; the perennial resurrection of the Church is the ground of our hope for ourselves and for the world. [...] The emergence of Labour as a governing party the emergence of woman as a political power the establishment of the Irish Free State the Statute of Westminster the Indian Reforms are some of the political changes of the first importance in their bearing on the future of the British Empire. [...] More realised what are according to Father Knox the three ambtions which it is reasonable for a man to aim at if he really wants to make the moot of life : the ambition of the man of action the ambition of the artist and the ambition of the saint. [...] In the spiritual order the centripetal force is represented by the principle of unity and authority having its seat in the Papacy ; the centrifugal force is represented by the principle of universality the command of Christ to his disciples to preach the Gospel to every creature which takes the selfless missionaries to the ends of the earth. [...] In the interest which the Popes through their Delegates have taken in their Indian children and the loyalty and love of which they in their turn have been the object we have an illustration of the principle of unity ; in all that the Delegation has done for the spread of the Gospel in the territories within its jurisdiction we see an illustrtion of the principle of universality.
