Morvi Darbar’s Comments on the Nawanagar-Bhavnagar-Rajkot’s Proposal and Mr. Pearse’s Report on the Traffic Prospects re- Proposed Rajkot Jasdan Railway

I have therefore the honour to offer the following observations in the full hope that they will receive at the hands of the Government of India ( as the " custodian " of the interests of my State ) the Railway Board and yourself the consideration which the merits an the gravity of the interests affected require."4. [...] C/857 dated the 10th September 1937 :— " in the opinion of the Political Department there appears no financial justification for the construction of the Rajkot-Jasdan line " and they therefore called for from Bhavnagar a statement of traffic estimates " to enable the Railway Board to appreciate the reasons for the Darbar to embark upon an expenditure of Rs. [...] The primary object of the costruction of the bridge was that the Morvi Railway trains Should run on it to the Junction so that the Jamnagar Railway and J. R. Raiway may have the benefit of throvh traffic. [...] By the opening of the Rajkot-Jasdan Section these ratios will further change in favour of the Bhavnagar State Railway and the Dhandhuka route and to the detriment of other Railways. [...] The port of Bedi will be benefitted at the expense of the port of Navlakhi and a considerable amount of traffic will be diverted from the Morvi Railway; while the influence of Bhavnagar port will extend to Rajkot and it will compete with Porbandar and Verawal.
