There are still many difficulties attending the thorough examination of Indians prior to embarkation in India which are beyond the control of the Board ; to overcome these as far as possible the Board have under consideration the granting of bonuses to the Surgeons Superintendent payable upon the report of the Medical Board here that an efficient examination of the Indians has been made. [...] A Bill to amend and consolidate the Laws relating to the introduction of Indian Immigrants into the Colony of Natal and to the regulation and government of such Indian immigrants was passed by the Legislative Council during the past session and published on the 8th September as Law No. [...] The appointment of the Medical Officers and the control of the Medical Fund has been placed in the hands of the Board.
