It is then pointed out that the Board would be under the control of the local Government through the P. W. D. Secretary who is also Chief Engineer but that the Chief Engineer in road matters would to some extent be under the direction of the Board. [...] On the other hand if the percentage of these salts is inadequate the surface tends to become too dry during the heat of the day and is likely to be broken up by traffic. [...] Haphazard experiments carried out on the roads will lead nowhere unless based on research in the laboratory as the extent to which the ` Kalar ' is hygroscopic depends on the composition of the soil as well as on the percentage of salts. [...] The preparation of the maps and collection of statistics from railways are valuable and helpful in so many ways that the local administration and the railway might consider the advisability of co-ordinating with the object of collecting the necesary data every year in order to prepare these documents annually. [...] This would not only be exceedingly helpful both to the railway and to the local administrtion in determining where facilities should be provided for the transportation of agricultural produce but it would be very helpful in many other ways to the Comissioner in Sind the Chief Engineer in Sind the Chief Agricultural Officer in Sind the Revenue Officer Lloyd Barrage and Collectors of Dist
