Government of West Bengal Community Development Projects. Report on Agro-Economic Survey of Nalhati Block

1952

0.3.-Treatment of results.-In tabulating the results of the survey it was felt that the best course would be to divide the entire area of the block into a convenient number of compact sub-blocks and examine the results with reference to such sub-blocks as units. [...] 0.4.—Numbering of paragraphs and tables.—The system of numbering paragraphs and tables adopted in this report is as follows :— Paragraphs sub-paragraphs and subsidiary paragraphs in each chapter have been numbered with different digits the first digit denoting the chapter number the second the paragraph number of the chapter and the third digit the sub-paragraph number if there be any. [...] Thus Annexure 5 would mean the main (summary) table relating to the facts discussed in Chapter V. Annexure 5.3 would mean the third subsidiary (detailed) table of the main table appended 'to Chapter V. As these subsidiary tables generally deal with the details of individual sublocks the second digit in the annexure number would always agree with the serial number of the sub-block. [...] To the south of the block are the thanas of Muraroi and Rampurhat while on the western border of the block is the district of Santhal Parganas in Bihar State. [...] Of the total water area of 3 910 acres a proportion is serving the purposes of irrigation of supplying drinking water and also the production of fish.
