As there had been no meetings of the Committee during the year it was presumed that the Committee had since been dissolve&[ 5 Governing Body of the Arabic Department of the Calcutta Madrasah Abdur Rahman Siddiqi M. L. A. continued to represent the Chamber on the Governing Body of the Arabic Department of the Calcutta Madrasah. [...] Representation on the Town Planning Committee and the Standing Quartering Board :—The Committee learnt that the Indian Chamber of Commerce had been given a seat on both the Town Planning Committee and the Standing Quartering Board to the exclusion of the other Chambers of Commerce and Associations on the strength of an assumption by the General Officer Commanding in Chief Chairman of the Committ [...] The Committee in their letter dated the 2nd March 1944 addressed to the Secretary Town Planning Committee invited his attention to the fact that the Muslim Chamber of Commerce was the only representative body of the Muslims in Calcutta and that the representation by the Indian Chamber of Commerce on both the Planning Committee and the Quartering Board did not mean that the Muslim interests wou [...] Memorandum to the Hon'ble Commerce Member :- Subsequent to the kind visit of the Hon'hle the Commerce Member to the Chamber on the 24th December 1943 and according to the desire expressed by him in the said visit a memorandum was submitted to him by the Chamber on the 2nd February 1944 embodying therein various subjects of interest to the trading community. [...] Movement of Handloom Lungees to Chittagong District :- The Assistant Textile Controller in his letter dated the 22nd March 1944 requested the Chamber to intimate to him if any member of the Chamber had lunge.es suitable for the district of Chittagong and in the event of the reply being in the affirmative he requested to be furnished with a list of the quantities and the prices.
