The Committee of the Muslim Chamber of Commerce Calcutta has the honour to submit to the members of the Chamber its Annual Report for the year 1947-48 together with the Statement of Audited Accounts of the Chamber for the year ended 31st December 1947. [...] Mohammad Nurul Hug Chowdhury contnued to represent the Chamber on the above Committee till July 19.47 when on account of the division of the Bengal Assam Railway the Sealdah portion of the said Railway was merged with the East Indian Railway and the above Committee was dissolved. [...] If the economic forces are harnessed by an intelligent use of the legislative powers of the State and if commercial and industrial enterprises receive encouragement from the Government much can be achieved in the betterment of the living standards of the people. [...] The objections( 18 ) were embodied in a joint representation which was submited to the Government over the signatures of the Secretaries of the local Chambers of Commerce and the other organistions which participated in the conference on behalf of the employers. [...] In his reply dated the 14/15th July 1947 the Secrtary to the Representative of the Government of India with the Government of Burma said that difficulties experienced by Indians as a result of Burma Government's promulgtion of the Burma immigration (Emergency Provisions) Act 1947 had occupied the closest attention of the Goernment of India and the -Representative of the Goverment
