Formation of the soil is due largely to the action of the trees roots in breaking up the surface layers of the rock and to the deposit of leaf mould together with broken surface layers and on the slopes on the other hand the trees put a stop to this process and tends to go out of cultivation as surface layers are gradually washed away.
