The boundaries of some of the townships in the district of the 24-Parganas were however revised mainly in order to correct discrepancies noticed during the recent survey and settlement operation between the notified boundaries of the municipalities and the boundaries of the areas actually administered. [...] The decrease in the number of ratepayers in Jalpaiguri is reported to be due to the introduction for the first time of the rate on holdings under the Bengal Municipal Act 1932 in lieu of the rate on persons. [...] 11 775 to the municipal revenue of Bhatpara was due to the full benefit of the lighting tax iposed in the latter half of the preceding year. [...] The aggregate balance to the credit of the municipalties at the close of the year was Rs. [...] The epidemic was however-severe in Bogra and the district board had to come to the aid of the municipality practically taking over the work of fighting the epidemic.
