Administration Report of the Surat Borough Minicipality for the year 1934-35

As the triennial period of the Board expired during the year fresh election of the Non-Mahomedan Constituency was held on the 19th October 1934 and those of the Mahomedan and depressed class constituencies were held on the 20th October 1934. [...] 86 Meetings of the Standing Committee were held during the year under review as against 58 held in the preceding year and the number of businesses disposed of during the year was 1436 as against 1307 in the preceding year. [...] Towards the close of the year proposals for the same have been submitted and are under consideration of the Standing Committee.7 (b) Collection of the Special Sanitary Cess from the land-lords in case of it is not recovered from the tenants. [...] After carefully considering the pros and cons of the question the Consulting Engineer to Government Public Health Department has advised the Municipality to abandon the idea of going in for a sewage farm and to adopt the suggestion of throwing the sewage into the Mindhola River.
