During the remaining months the rising trend was in evidence in both the years with this difference however that the rise in the year under review was much pronounced than in the preceding one. [...] — The retail price of rice was lower in the first two months of the year under review than in the last month of the preceding year. [...] In subsequent months it on the whole gained further in momentum and soared high to 614'4 in June 1951 whereas it had declined from 552.2 to 528'6 in the corresponding period of the preceding year: In the closing month of the year under review it again lost to 567.6 as against a substatial rise in it at the end of the preceding year. [...] 519'9 572 5 539.3 The comparison of the indices of domestic expenditure and of cost of farm cultivation shows that the former remained throughout below the / latter that the changes in the former were less sharp than in the latter and that monthly changes in them were not generally in one and the same direction. [...] — The indcx numbers of prices paid by the farmer as given above showed an appreciable increase in the first half of the year ander review as it went up from 523.4 in August 1950 to 550.9 in January 1951 as against 5291 in the corresponding month of the preceding year.
