[...] Honourable members might remember that on the discussion of my motion for the reference of this Bill to the Select Comittee various honourable members referred to the difficulties in the appliction of the provisions of the Estate Duty in the context of the Mitakshara Law of inheritance prevailing in certain parts of India. [...] For thee reasons the Select Committee thought that it would be adviable to postpone the detailed consideration of the Bi l and ask for the permision of the House for a postponement of the date for the presAtation of the final report. [...] I therefore suggest Sir that the House might agree to the motion for posponement of the date for the final presentation of the report of the Select Committee.
