nesday the 10th January 1917 was certainly not the first exhibtion held in Baroda but it was unique on the scale on which it was held the variety and extent of its exhibits the enthusiastic support which it received from all sec tions of the community and the crowds of visitors which it 2 ttracted not only from the city but from all parts of the State and the foreign territory adjacent to [...] Considerable progress has been ma de in the agricultural and industrial development of the State as the result of the activities of the Departments of Commerce and Agriculture. [...] The assorted exhibits were removed to the stalls on the 29th and the work of arranging them in their proper places was immediately taken in hand and with the help of a large staff of voluntary workers finished by the evening of 1st of January. [...] Owing to the disintegrating effect of the laws of inheriance prevalent among the peoples of this country and the support accorded to them by the Survey Rules which permit sub-divisions to the extent of one and a half bigha of jirayet land and of bagayat land the holdings have been small and scattered and as its result (a) much time and energy of the farmer is wasted in going from one field t [...] to interest and instruct the public; and lastly thanked the Police Naib Suba and his men for the very excellent arrangement made for the direction and cotrol of large crowds which visited the Exhibition and for guarding the valuable properties lying open in the Stalls.
