A too rigid closure of the area is likely to prove baneful ; it is of immense importance that the country should receive a free supply of silt to replenish the fertility of soil which is being sapped by the continuous pressure of cultivation on it and to raise the level of the country simultaneously with the rise of the bed of the river. [...] This can only be secured according to the Engineers by the spill water of the flood passing over the banks of the river and not through the ghaia. [...] The density of population to square mile according to the census of 1911 is 521 against 379 of Khurda 309 of Baramba 505 of Tigiria 279 of Athgarh 2113 of Dompara and 303 of Kliandpara surrounding the Estate. [...] The cost of cultivation is different for different kinds of paddy in two parts of the estate (Parang and Naya) though in ordinary years the cost in the latter is less than in the form._T it exceeds the othiT when there is damage to the crop by flood.
