He is the founder of the world famous Tanjore Maharaja Serfoji Sarasvati Mahil Library which in respect of number and quality of the Sanskrit Manuscripts it enshrines is pre-eminently the foremost Sanskrit Manuscript Library in the world *. Under the direction of the Government of Madras and with grantin-aid sanctioned by them the Administrative Comittee of the Tanjore Palace Library have ju [...] From the manuscripts described in the above volumes it has been possible to reconstruct a running history of the develoment of Sanskrit Literature in the South under the aegis of the liftyak and Mahratha rulers of a single kingdom like the Tanjore Principality fur an unbroken period of 350 years from 1500 A. D (For a historical account of the origin and development of the Library see ‘iene [...] The author was called by the title of pitAima Kavi Stirvabhauma and was the grandson by the daugter Abhirtimanftyika of Piodimaprabhu and the nephew of Saadpati Bhattäraka. [...] He is the father of the great Verikate4waramakhi the preceptor of Nliakanha DIkvita Govinda's second son is the great IT.erranEtriiiyanadiksita the author of the 8ThityaratnEtkara. [...] His work Yitriiprabandha describes the holness of the several sacred places and waters found in the course of the pilgrimage of the author's brother and colleague named Dharma who was a disciple of Appayadiksita.
