It will be observed that the figures of the exports of Coal from Bengal and of the exports into Bombay Sind and Burma as well as the figures of the imports of Rice and Kerosene oil into Bengal and of the exports of the same from Burma do not correspond even approxmately. [...] 71 (Statistical) of 1903 dated 6th February last I have the honour to report that in order to reconcile the figures of exports of Rice from Burma with those of imports into Madras particulars were obtained from the Chief Collector of Customs Burma in respect of shipments of rice from Rangoon to all the ports in the Madras Presidency during the last six months of the year 1901-02.
