Orders on the recommendations of Lord Lee's Commission with regard to the conditions of service of the members of the several Superior Civil Services in India were received from the Secretary of State and were given effect to from April 1924. [...] In view of the orders received from the Secretary of State from time to time on the subject of appointments in the India-recruited branch of the Indian Service of Engineers the existing guarantee to the Engineeing College Poona in the matter of appointment to the Indian Service of Engineers was partially modified and the N. E. D. Civil Engineering College Karachi having since developed into [...] At the instance of the Bombay Retrenchment Committee two Committees—one for the Sind and the other for the Presidency proper— were appointed by Government thoroughly to revise the present methods and to eliminate unnecessary work from the accounts and office procedure of the Public Works Department. [...] During the period under review the Roads and Buildings Branch of the Public Works Department of the Presidency executed works the total expenditure on which was Rs. [...] * From the year 1921-22 the expenditure on Post and Telegraph buildings has been transferred to the Accountant General Posts and Telegraphs and that on the Archaalagical works to the Accountant General Central Revenues.
