Except in the areas in which the attack of pyrilla spoiled the sugarcane crop for preparation of cm and white sugar and in which the cane was consequently greatly reduced in value the growers of sugarcane had a more prosperous year owing to the fixation of a rainmum price of five annas and three pies for factory purchases. [...] The planing for and putting into effect extdbsions of activity in many directions and notably in the demonstration of better methods and the supply of better seed on a wide scale in the villages increased the strain which has been a subject of perennial comment in this report as affecting both the headquarters and circle staffs. [...] The whole of the advance of Rs.11 lakh is invested in the plain pipes and strainers while the balance of over Rs.53 000 is invested in the raw-materials required for the manufacture of goods for the workshop. [...] The professional control was vested in a single officer the Deputy Director of Gardens United Provinces Saharanpur and the Commissioners of the Divisions were relieved entirely of the dual control. [...] It is.considered desirable briefly to present the accounts of the commercial aspect of the gardens and the following table shows the results for the financial year under report.
