(3) Future development of the organisation of the Department in Sind.--As a result of the experience gained during the first year's working of the Lloyd Barrage Canal Systems it is"3 possible to indicate more definitely the most urgent requirments of the Agricultural Department in Sind in future development and extension of a higher standard of agricultural practice in the province. [...] The main requirements are : (a) a considerable expansion of the staff and resources of the Department employed upon demonstration and propaganda work in the districts (b) the establishment of a Research Station in the Right Bank areas for the investigation of the agricultural and irrigational aspects of rice cultivation under the new conditions of water-supply and for detailed scientific researc [...] There is ample evidence hoever that much greater interest is being shown by the cultvators of Sind in the activities of the Department and that there is a more general realization of the importance of the work being done on Government Research Stations farms and in the districts by the departmental staff in the agricultural development of the province. [...] The first section of this part of the Report deals with the improvement of crops work which forms the major portion of the activities of the Botanical Section at the Agricultural Research Station Sakrand. [...] (13) The improvement of cotton cultivation and agronomy.—In all the main cottogrowing tracts of Sind the cultivation of cotton is capable of very great improvement especially in the directions of better preparatory tillage of the soil and in the intercultivation and cleaning of the crop.
