Tit schemes for the establish ent of a Right Bank Research Statilin near Dcikri in the Larkana District and for the develomept and completion of the equipment of the Agricultural Research Station Sakrand have received full consideration by the Government of Bombay and such progress is expected in these directions in the near future With the rapid extension of cultivation in the Barrage areas [...] In September 1934 the Government of India recognizing the need for the rapid development of the Lloyd Barrage area in Sind accepted In principle the proposals of the Government of Bombay that the central revenues should come to the assistance of the provincial revenues in financing schemes which are likely to hasten development but are beyond the present resources of the Government of Bombay. [...] The decrease is due partly to the increase in the area under the more profitable cotton crop and partly to the deficiency of water supply in the Upper Sind Frontier District the unfavourable inundation in the NoBarrage areas and the absence of floods for bosi cultivation. [...] There is however considerable scope for improvement in cotton cultvation in the directions of better preparatory tillage of the soil in the intercultivation and cleaning of the crop in the sowing time and in the adoption of suitable crop rotations which will maintain the fertility of the soil. [...] Though the possibilities of export of the strong wheats is remote yet the work of extending the cultivation of Pusa wheats is being continued largely because of their proved resistance to the rust disease which causes much damage to the local varieties and partly because of the growing demand for strong wheats by the Indian consumer himself!
