The history is here carried down to the year 1260 A. D. embracing the consecutive annals of the Ghazaivides the Ghorians and the Slave Kings as far as the end of the reign of Nasiru-d din. [...] This statment is confirmed by Abit-1 Faraj in his " Catalogue of Ancient and Modern Authors." Birfini says towards the end of his preface " I have translated into Arabic two Indian works one discusses the origin and quality of things which exist and is entitled Sankhya the other is known under the title of Patajali 5 which treats of the deliverance of the soul from the trammels of the [...] Duncan Forbes says "After Abit Rihan had made thorough proficiency in the sciences of the Indian philosophers he translated from the Indian language into the Arabic tongue the book of Pktankal or Pktanjal which is a collection of all the sciences and one of 'the most valuable works of the sages of Hind. [...] He quotes the counterpart passage in the P csian and Arabic versions of the bmi'u-t Tawarikh which says " And Bank returt to his country and was the last of the KattIrman kings." So that the name of LE &am hn would appear to be nothing more than an incorrect rendering of the designation of the tribe of Katdr.— " Jour. [...] The necklace was taken off the neck of Jaipal —composed of large pearls and shining gems and rubies set in gold of which the value was two hundred thousand dinars ; and twice that value was obtained from the necks of those of his relatives who were taken prisoners or slain and had become the food of the mouths of hyenas and vultures.
