were decided in favor of the Appellants ; but notwithstanding that nearly half the appeals were thus advantageous to the Appellants the result must on the whole be considered to bear favorable testimony to the working of the Courts as the 884 appeals bore a ratio of only 1 in 10 to the 8 850 decided cases of the preceding year and a still less ratio to the 9 881 decided cases of the past year [...] This is owing to the fact that the disputes concerning Cundayum land which forms the greater portion of the land of the Country are settled summarily in the Revenue Department according to the old custom of the Country.
