[...] 12 000 out of the Imperial Grant should be tpplicd for the foundation of a glair of Chemistry and recommended that the sum should be devoted to the maintenance of the Laboratory of the proposed University College of Science. [...] The foundation-stone of the building designed for the University College of Science was accordingly laid on the 27th March 1914 and the University proceeded to meet the cost of erection from the Reserve Fund formed out of the surplus of examination fees realised from candidates of all grades ' in different stations of life from every corner of the Province. [...] In the second place while in the case of the Department of Arts the University has not contributed even double the amount of tuition fees in the case of the Department of Science the UnivErsity has contribted more than fifteen times the amount of tuition fees.
