Norwood's address and his view on the importance of tradition in the education of a child—the importance of the relation of the teacher to the Parent and the Doctor the value of the social life of the teacher—educational progress of other countri--suggestion of a Ten-Year-Plan for children—criticism of the present standard of education —the Nursery Schools of Japan—the present unsatis factory con [...] The first is the period ranging from early times to the middle of the nineteenth Century the second 411.-fr-.13e period of Renaissance covering the second half of the nineteenth Century and continuing to the end of it and the third commencing frog} the twentieth century onwards. [...] Some of the writers who flourished towards the end of the 18th century and who were interested in the progress 210 of the education of girls tried through their writings to draw the attention of the public to the imperfections and to the superficial nature of the education of the time. [...] On the recommendation of the Commission one Central Education Authority was formed by the Board of Eduction Act of 1899 which merged the powers of the Eduction Department and the Science and Arts Department and the powers of the Charity Commission over Eductional Charities in the new board of Education. [...] Thus under the new system the Secondary Schools prepare the students for the University and for the professions ; the Technical Schools for the trades and the Central Schools for the making and distribution of goods.
