The number of the Ex-Officio Commissioners in the Presidency remained the same as last year and there was no change either in the jurisdiction of the Commissioner Bombay or of any of the Ex-Officio Commissioners. [...] 3. The only amendment in the Act during the year was the addition to Schedule II of persons employed otherwise than in a clerical capacity in the occupations of (a) the felling or logging of trees (b) the transport of timber by inland waters (c) the control or extinguishing of foret fires and (d) elephant catching operation. [...] in addition to the 20 reports that were under investigation at the end of the last year information was received in respect of 124 cases of fatal accidents during the year of which eight were dealt with by the Ex-officio Commissioners and 116 by the Commissioner Bombay. [...] In 16 of these 23 the applications were successful and the remaining seven were dismissed In 11 cases liability was denied on the ground that the accidents did not arise out of and in the course of " the employment and the facts disclosed justified the denial of liability. [...] The number of appeals disposed of during the year was seven all of which were dismissed and the decisions of the Commissioners confirmed.
