The Government of India therefore addressed the Local Governments requesting them to inform the Agents of the Railways concerned the names and designations of the Commisioners' exercising jurisdictions over the various sections of the Railway lands under their control and this was under correspondence during the year under report Mo R 8-12 4. No amendments were made in the Act during the year [...] In ten the plea of the opposite party that the accident did not arise out of and in the course of the employment was accepted. [...] In the 39 applications that were allowed in full in three it was alleged that the injury was aggravated on account of the unreasonable conduct of the workmen in twelve wilful disobedience was alleged ; in ten it was alleged that accident did not arise out of and in the course of the workmen's employment ; in three limitation was pleaded and in the remaining cases other -defences were taken. [...] From the figures furnished by the Commissioners in the Presdency it will be seen that out of the 377 cases filed 309 were filed in the Court of the Commissioner Bombay while of the 302 agreements 281 were received for registration in his Court i.e. [...] Only 68 cases and 21 agreements were filed in the Courts of all the other Commissioners and of this number of cases 29 were filed in the Court of the Commissionera Karachi 15 at Sukkur (where thousands of workmen are employed in the construction of the Barrage and Canals) 5 each at Hyderabad and Aden and the remaining 14 were distributed among the other Commissioners.
