As will be seen from table A the number of unions registered at the close of the year numbered 12 out of a total of 80 trade unions (including federations of trade unions) then in existence as shown in the Quarterly Review published by the Labour Office in the Labour Gazettt for April 1928. [...] Registration on the whole is for the protection of the leaders of labour but at the same time it ensures that the union shall work under certain well-defined rules and that the contrbutions of the members shall be spent only upon well-defined objects and thereby gives some measure of assurance to the rank and file of the labour movement that their hard earned annas will be used for their ben [...] Registrar of Trade Unions Bombay Presidency."8 Some Rulings of the Registrar of Trade Unions Bombay Presidency in connection with the interpretation of the Indian Trade Unions Act 1926 and the Bombay Trade Unions Regulations 1927 Re : Section 4 of the Act.—Honorary members as well as Ordinary may be Signatories to applications for regitration.
