The North Point Annual 1916

1916

The patritic chorus " Hail Flag of the Empire " sung by the two divisions of the School was the gem of the evening. [...] It is one of the few occasions when the whole School is together and what adds to the piquancy of the occasion is that the whole significance of the assembly is not amusement but instruction. [...] Every competition of the term from the day the school opened carries its blushing victor to the stage where the tokens are awarded at the hands of the Rector while the leader of each class receives the guerdon of his prolonged effort amid the acclamations of his less fortunate rivals. [...] The College Orchestra gave some pretty selections in the intervals and the technique of the little artists was the theme of general praise. [...] Boys I am not conceited enough to bring myself forward as a kind of North Point flag ; but as is the case with the flag and the Regiment I have witnessed the beginnings the struggles the progress the brilliant successes of your College : a College of which you may justly feel proud.
