Although it is true that the true knowledge of Cods swarapa is the final fruit of worship and that He is also beyond the reach of words and thought alike (wrifTiWirlw) yet we must have some knowledge to start with and that knowledge is fortunately available through the record of the experiences of the great Seers of the past as embodied in shiistras and other books. [...] The 'Saiyam jiifinam anantam' of the Upanishads the `adwava' Alan tattle of the Bhägawata the 'dharmn kriva' or primal:a' of the Buddhists the God of the Christians and the Allah of the Muslims all whaever else they may or may not be supposed to be all are quite definitely considered to be spiritual Realities and not material. [...] The Christian is taught to practise living in the presence of God" the Buddhist to meditate perpetually on the transiency of the world and the Eternity of Nirvana and the Hindu to remember always the form of the Lord seated in his heart. [...] The question will surely be asked as to how the knowledge ought to be obtained and the answer is that it is to be obtained through the teachings of those whom the heart's instinct accepts as teachers from the study of such books as the Gitä and above all from meditative thought about the nature of the world. [...] Such an objection ' hOWever reveals utter ignorance both of the nature of love and of the nature of God.* The Shruti says; not for the sake of the wife is the wife dear but for the sake of the Atnzan." Love is not a mere rapturous emotion.
