In tackling the question of the improvement of the amuracy of the All-India Cotton Foreca--is the Indian Central Cot tem Committee felt that is more rliable estimate of village consumption of cotton in India was essential before the extent. [...] The primary object of the enquiries was to make the existing data in rgard to the distribution of the Tiulian cotton crop more complete and reliable : the purely economic aspects of the question. [...] It is interesting to note that the investigations have revealed that except in the case of the Punjab and United Provinces the general per capita consumption of cotton lint for the families investigated in the different Provinces and States is emsidrably less than the conventionally adopted"figure of I lb. [...] A table showing the total 1 Wage consumption of cotton in the whole of the Punjab estimated on the results of the enquiry is attached. [...] A table showing the total village consumptim of cotton in the Banda State as estimated on the basis of the results of the enquiry is attached.
