Reports on the work of these men to date have been highly satifactory and during the year a number of useful contributions have been made to the scientific literature on the chemistry and physics of the jute fibre. [...] The Committee record their grateful thanks to the Executive Committee for the capable manner in which the affairs of the Institute have been directed during the year under review and also their appreciation of the work of the staff during that period. [...] )The work of the laboratories has continued throughout the year in a satisfactory manner although a certain amount of diruption resulted due to the unavoidable absence and irregular attendance of staff on account of the prevailing state of affairs in the city. [...] The Supplement to the Memorandum has no direct bearing on the latter but has been issued to illustrate the views and attitude of the heads of three of the largest industrial concerns in the U. K. towards research in industry.
