1412 dated the 3rd February 1911 in which you declined to11 take up the question of the grant of pension to men of the Okha Battalion at the Conference which is to be held at the Residency on the subject of the Wagher Land Tenure on the ground that it has nothing to do with the land tenure question. [...] deuce on this subject I wish to invite attention in the first place to the fact that the Darbar was in the beginning willing to place the Battalion on the same footing in respect of pensions and gratuities as the rest of the State forces. [...] JNIY DEAR SLR I am directed to forward for the information of His Highness' Government a copy of the proceedings of the Conference on Okhamandal affairs held at the Resdency on the 12th and 14th October 1911 together with cc pies of the following papers showing the settlement arrived at on the several points under discussion :— ( a ) Rules for the regulation of the Salami Land Tenure in Okhama [...] He would like it however to be recorded as his personal view that : ( a ) the question ought not to be regarded as finally closed and ( b ) if the demand for land increases and it can be shown that the majority of Waghers do not utilize to the full the Santi of land now assigned to them the best way of dealing with the position will be to reduce the area of the grant rather than to raise the a [...] In order to understand the real facts at issue it was found necesary to subject to a critical examination the records of 1860 relating to the status of the Dhrewad Waghers of whom the Marypur family is a branch and to the creation of the village of Marypur.
